No visa needed for up to 14 days stay (for Myanmar nationals)
by: D.

Hi Kaung Myat,

As I said in my earlier post, Myanmar nationals don't need to get a Lao visa to stay between 1 and 14 days. So... if you plan to stay in Laos for 1 week, you don't need to get a visa. You only need your passport.

However, if you want stay in Laos for longer than 14 days, you'll need a visa. You can get it on entry (at the airports or at border crossing if you enter the country by land).

Hope this helps,
Best,
D.

No visa required for Laotian to enter Myanmar
by: D.Phothisane

Hi S. Phanouvong,

According to Lao consulate in Vientiane, Lao passport holders (ordinary passport, the blue one) don't need an entry visa to enter Myanmar.
They can stay up to 30 days without a visa.

FYI, Laotians travel with service passport (the green one, (Government officials)) need to get multi-visa prior to traveling.

Hope this helps,
Happy New Year
D.

Visa office, and Lao visa for Myanmar citizens
by: D.Phothisane

Hello Thida,

Thanks for visiting and dropping the questions.

The answers to your questions are below:

>>Is the office close for the On Arrival Visa on 25th December?
No, The visa office is not close on 25th December as Christmas day is not considered a holiday in Laos (Christmas is not Lao tradition).

>> Does Myanmar citizen need Visa for Laos?
The answer: Yes and No.

Yes, they need to get a visa if they want to stay in Laos for longer than 14 days.

Myanmar citizens holding normal passport need to get a 30-day visa at Lao consulate or at the Lao airports or the borders (including the bridges) if they want to stay longer than 14 days.

No, they don't need to get a visa if they plan to stay in Laos for 14 days or less.
Myanmar citizens holding normal passport don't need to get a visa to enter Laos if they are to stay in Laos for 14 days or less.

FYI: Myanmar official passport holders can enter Laos without a visa and can stay for up to 30 days. Lao and Myanmar governments have a visa exemption agreement. So officials of both countries can travel "visa free" between the two countries.

>> How much is the On Arrival fees?
The visa-on-arrival fee is US$30.

Hope this answered your questions.
If you have more questions, feel free to email me. I might or might not have the answer to all of your questions but I'm happy to receive them.
