Maltese Citizins visiting Laos

by Sharon Camilleri
(Malta)

Dear Sir / Madam,

Myself and my husband wish to visit Laos for our honeymoon. We intend to visit Laos between the 20th and the 25th November. We will be travelling from Thailand to Luang Prabang Airport.

In this respect, kindly can you advise us about the visa procedure. Can we just present ourselves at the Airport, and do the visa there or we need a letter of approval before hand? If so, kindly can you advise us from where we can get the letter of approval.

Apart from Luang Prabang, we will also visit Vientiane and we have accommodation already booked in both locations.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Kind Regards,
Sharon

Pay fine for overstay
by: Duangpy

Hi Carmen,
No worries, if you already fix the flight and changing it costs you more than $10, I'd suggest that you stay another day after your visa expires and pay a fine of $10 for overstaying.

You can also have the visa extended, but I don't recommend because it is not worth the trouble for just one day extension.

Anyway, for your info here is how to get your visa extended, just in case https://www.laos-guide-999.com/Laos-visa-extension.html

All the best,

visa
by: Carmen kimpton

In two weeks time I'm going to Laos for 31 days and after I booked the flight I realised that visa in Laos is for 30 days. I'm concern that I might be in trouble with the customs.
thanks for taking the time to read my comments.

Laos visa on arrival for Maltese
by: D.

Dear Sharon,

Maltese citizen can get Lao visa on arrival at Luang Prabang airport and the other 3 Lao national airports (Vientiane, Savannakhet and Pakse).

What you need to do is just arrive at the airport, fill out the visa form, and submit it together with your passport, 2 passport photos and US$30 (the form should be given to you on the plane before landing). For more info please visit Laos visa on arrival page.

As a tourist you don't need to get a letter of approval.

The letter approval is required only if you apply for business visa.

Hope this helps clear things up a bit.
Wish you a wonderful honeymoon in Luang Prabang.
